GRP Fibreglass Roofing for Homes and Balconies in Greater London
A GRP fibreglass roof is built on the roof itself. Resin and glass-fibre matting are laminated over a prepared deck, then sealed with a pigmented topcoat once the laminate has cured. Because the whole surface sets as one continuous layer, there are no laps or joints for water to work through. GRP also forms neatly around corners and upstands, which is why it is often chosen for dormers, small extensions and roofs with awkward shapes.
GRP is widely used on balconies and roof terraces too, as topcoats are available with a textured, anti-slip finish that you can walk on. Ashlar Roofing lays fibreglass systems with preformed edge trims and corner details bonded into the laminate, so the edges are as watertight as the main roof. Fibreglass is weather-dependent: the resin needs a dry deck and suitable temperatures to cure, so laminating is timed around the forecast and never rushed through damp days.

Why choose us
Why Choose Ashlar Roofing for Fibreglass Roofs
Curing Never Rushed
We time laminating to suitable weather, because resin that cures in damp conditions will not give you the roof you are paying for.
Edges Built into the Laminate
Trims, corners and outlets are laminated into the roof, so the most vulnerable areas get the same protection as the rest.
Advice on Balcony Finishes
Where a roof doubles as a balcony, we can advise on textured topcoats that give better grip in the wet.
Other Systems If Better
If rubber or felt would suit your roof better, we install those too and will tell you so.

How We Carry Out Fibreglass Roofs
The main stages of the job, from the first inspection to the final check.
Check Deck and Weather
GRP needs a dry, stable deck, so we check the boards for moisture and movement and plan laminating days around the forecast.
Fit Boards and Trims
Damaged decking is replaced with suitable boards and the edge trims are fixed in position, ready to be laminated in.
Laminate the Roof
Resin and glass-fibre matting are rolled out across the roof and trims, consolidated to remove trapped air, then left to cure.
Apply the Topcoat
Once the laminate has cured, the topcoat is applied to seal and protect it. We then go over the finished roof with you to confirm it matches what was agreed.
